Engineering Analysis & Calculations

Our engineering analysis and calculation services help clients assess the strength, performance, and reliability of structures and mechanical components under project-specific loading conditions.

For structural assessments, we use tools such as Autodesk Inventor Nastran and Inventor Frame Analysis to evaluate stress, displacement, deformation, and overall structural behaviour.  Our experience includes vessels, equipment supports, platforms, stairs, frames, skids, pipework-related structures, and other mechanical assemblies.

We also provide a range of structural and process engineering assessments, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), structural calculations, and vessel vent sizing calculations.

Depending on the project requirements, the assessment may form part of a wider design package or be provided as a standalone analysis of a client-supplied design. The scope of analysis is tailored to each project and may be provided as a standalone engineering service or as part of a wider design package.

Project Planning

We begin by understanding the purpose of the assessment, the design information available, and the specific requirements of the project.

We can help with:

  • Reviewing client requirements or project specifications, existing design, available design data and relevance standards or regulations
  • Understanding the intended operating and loading conditions
  • Identifying the structures, components, or equipment requiring assessment
  • Defining an appropriate analysis scope for the project
  • Agreeing assumptions, load cases, constraints, and environmental conditions
  • Conducting site surveys where required to verify existing installations and operating conditions

Engineering Analysis

Once the project scope and requirements are established, we carry out the appropriate engineering assessment using methods suited to the structure, component, or process being reviewed.

We can help with:

  • Stress and structural integrity assessments
  • Stress, deflection, and stability assessments
  • Vessel and equipment assessments
  • Assessment of existing or proposed designs
  • Identification of highly stressed or critical areas
  • Engineering calculations for pipeline size, supports, lifting points, and other mechanical components
  • Design verification against applicable standards
  • Investigation of potential design improvements where required

Depending on the project, we can analyse our own engineering designs or independently assess designs supplied by the client.

Client Collaboration

We work closely with clients throughout the assessment to ensure the analysis reflects the actual project requirements, operating conditions, and intended application.

We can help with:

  • Confirming design information, loading conditions, and project requirements
  • Discussing assumptions and any limitations identified during the assessment
  • Reviewing analysis findings and highlighting areas requiring further consideration
  • Working with the client to investigate potential modifications or improvements where required
  • Updating the analysis where agreed design changes need to be assessed
  • Presenting results and engineering recommendations in a clear and practical format
  • Supporting informed engineering decisions throughout the project

Final Deliverables

Deliverables are tailored to the project scope and can include:

  • FEA and structural Frame analysis reports
  • Stress, displacement, and deformation results
  • Engineering calculation reports
  • Summary of assumptions, loading conditions, and assessment criteria
  • Identification of critical areas or items requiring further consideration
  • Engineering recommendations and conclusions
  • Supporting drawings, models, or technical documentation where included within the project scope

Whether you require analysis as part of a new design, verification of an existing structure, or an independent assessment of your own design, Aetherium Engineering can provide an analysis package tailored to your project.
